Mayor Bhalla, President Farvardin announce tennis court and pool access at Stevens for fully vaccinated residents

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and Stevens Institute of Technology President Nariman Farvardin today announced that fully vaccinated and boosted Hoboken residents will have access to utilize four tennis courts at Stevens from June 6 through Aug. 28 and the indoor swimming pool throughout the year.

Hoboken residents will have access to the tennis courts on the northern end of the campus free of charge between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days per week. Hoboken residents will have access to the pool in Schaefer Athletic Center for a fee (see below); summer hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until August 31. Access to the tennis courts and pool will be provided subject to proof of residency and vaccination confirmation.

“Providing additional tennis court and pool access, through our partnership with Stevens, will provide even more recreation opportunities for Hoboken residents this summer,” said Mayor Bhalla. “On behalf of all Hoboken tennis players and swimmers, thank you to President Farvardin and his team for helping make this possible once again this year.”

"We are proud of our partnership with Mayor Bhalla and the city of Hoboken, and we are happy to make these facilities available to our neighbors," said Nariman Farvardin, president of Stevens Institute of Technology.

Hoboken residents who would like to sign-up to utilize the tennis courts and swimming pool must first register at http://www.hobokennj.gov/stevenstennis, and provide contact information, government identification or utility bill indicating a Hoboken address, and proof of full vaccination and at least one booster dose. Stevens requires all on-campus students, as well as full-time and part-time employees to be fully vaccinated and at least one booster dose. The form will then be processed by the City with an approval email from the City required before beginning the Stevens registration process. Residents must then register with Stevens at https://stevens.dserec.com/online/membership. An email will be sent when the Stevens ID is available to be picked up at Stevens Card Services.

After receiving the approval email, the ID card can be picked up at Stevens Card Services in the Howe Center, Room 120, Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. View a campus map at https://www.stevens.edu/visit.

Residents can also purchase year-round pool access through daily, weekly, or monthly memberships by following the same registration process. The pool fee is $20 for one day, $35 for two weeks, or $55 monthly. Senior citizens get a discounted rate of $15 per day, $25 for two weeks, or $35 monthly.

Parking

Please note that no parking is available on campus for those individuals using the tennis courts or swimming pool.

Rules

All posted rules at the tennis facility and swimming pool must be followed. A one-hour time limit is in effect when the tennis courts are full. Patrons may not prop open the door to the courts or the pool nor let other individuals in. All tennis players and swimmers must swipe into the facility on their own. Anyone who is found in violation of these rules will lose privileges.
